do you ever give something, and tell everyone about it? let's say that you gave a homeless person 50 dollars, and then you posted it on facebook, tweeted about it, and wrote a blog post about it. while it is natural to be excited about doing something good, there comes a point when you can get into the "bragging zone".
matthew 6:3 says, "but when you give to charity, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing..." basically, that means, when you do something really good for the world, don't tell everyone. you will receive a much greater reward in heaven for that good deed than any you could get in this world.
in tandem with that, when we receive, let's be thankful. let's not expect people to give us things. a lot of people in the world today have this attitude that they deserve all of the things they get. all of the things we receive are blessings, and they should be treated as such.
"please" and "thank you" are two sayings that go so underused in our culture. let's try to put them back into action today and everyday, shall we?
