Beloved by God

People are like Rubik's cubes. Our personalities are multi-faceted. (Not two-faced, just having many different aspects.) 
For instance, I love art. But I also enjoy music and cooking. I'm still the same person. But I have multiple interests.
It's important to remember that the only part of ourselves that will never die is the part that was made new when we accepted Jesus as our Savior. Everything else will pass away with the earth. Sure, Jesus loves your hobbies. That chili you make? He adores it. But if any hobby or interest becomes more important to you or takes time away from your time with Jesus, it has to go.
Matthew 5:29 says "If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell." Sounds a bit harsh, right? But the principle is still right on the money; don't let anything get in the way of your relationship with Jesus.
